During the August long weekend each year, extreme athletes, individually and in relays, push themselves to the limits of their endurance against the breathtaking background of
the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The Death Race is 125 km of one of the world’s toughest adventures that begins and ends on a 4200 foot plateau, passes over three mountain
summits, and includes 17,000 feet of elevation change.
For three days, visual arts infuses Old Strathcona with a rich texture of art making and bohemian artistic spirit. The studios move into the streets where art makers and art admirers
share in the romance of creation and construction. The Whyte Avenue Art Walk has become an eclectic visual feast with something for everyone.
Batting Against Breast Cancer raises money towards battling breast cancer. This year the even marked its 5th anniversary in Edmonton.
Each month, more than 12,000 people receive hampers from Edmonton’s Food Bank or one of the over 160 agencies, churches, or food depots with which we are affiliated.
The Food Bank also distributes food to more than 250,000 meals and snacks each month. Approximately 40% of clients served are children under 18.
As the leading national volunteer-based organization dedicated to creating a future without breast cancer, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation works collaboratively to fund, support and advocate for:
• Relevant and innovative breast cancer research
• Meaningful education and awareness programs
• Early diagnosis and effective treatment
• A positive quality of life for those living with breast cancer
